Aubrey Rose is ELEVEN years old! How can this be?! Sob. Here she is from 10 to 11...
Aubrey at ELEVEN:
- Aubrey has grown up a ton this year. She ruled the school as a big 5th grader! She started the year in a class with no friends. She was so bummed that ALL her friends were in different classes. I almost tried to get her moved just because she was so upset about it. But I didn't, and I'm so glad. She was forced to make new friends and I think it really pushed her out of her comfort zone. Now she has several groups of friends to head into middle school with. I'm so proud of her.
- Aubrey has really come into her own this year. She decided she didn't want to be the "shy girl" and tried really hard to put herself out there. Her confidence has grown a lot. I'm so happy she's been able to come out of her shell more and is letting more people get to know her.
- She's definitely a preteen, heading into the awkward teenage years. We get glimpses. She still loves her siblings and loves hanging out with all of us, but she also wants/needs more big kid time. It is definitely the start of her being gone more and more and having things going on outside of us. Which has been fun and of course a little sad.
- I am SO glad Aubrey and Charlotte got to have one year together at the same school. Aubrey is so good to Charlotte, and I know Charlotte loved going to school with her. Aubrey is very patient with Charlotte's wild ways. I'm so glad they have each other.
- Aubrey continues to be the BEST sister to Carson and Charlotte! I feel like with Aubrey being gone a little more this year, Carson misses her. He's always so excited when she's around and can hang out and play. Everyone has way more fun when Aubrey is around!
- She is way into baking. She really went through a big cup cake phase. At one point, all she would watch was cooking shows. She's moved a little from cup cakes to just all cooking. She loves to help make dinner!
- She also got into a big slime phase (along with lots of other preteens). Every other week she's got a new slime recipe she wants to test out!
- She was chosen to participate in student council and honor choir for the school. She really loved both of those, and I think thrives in those leadership type positions. She likes to be involved.
- Aubrey is still very responsible. Her teacher loves her! She really is the perfect student. She still reads like crazy! She just flies through series after series. She and her friends got really into the Divergent series. They would read each book and then get together for the movie party. She loved it!
- She also has gotten really into tumbling. She's always been really flexible, and now she's putting to use with lots and lots of handstands, walk-overs, cartwheels, ariels, round-offs, etc. She really wants me to sign her up for a tumbling class this summer.
- She loved basketball again this last season. She's going to play on a summer league with a friend this summer, and is already looking forward to the Elite season next year!
- Aubrey loves: sleeping in every chance she gets, volleyball, being right, hanging out with friends, dessert, listening and singing along to music, her new iPhone, school, her role as a big sister, basketball, being nerdy with her dad, and her family.
