This is our "off" year for birthday parties (glorious). But the day was still fun and eventful! Carson had only been talking about his birthday for a couple months (even his teacher made a comment that he'd been talking about it for a while)! Charlotte and I got to bring in a ("healthy") snack to his class (Gogurts and cinnamon mini muffins). We went out to McDonald's for lunch, and he chose Brinner for his birthday dinner! Then after dinner, grandparents, cousins, and aunts and uncles came over for cake and presents. He had a blast!! He wanted a Ninja Turtle cake (a.k.a. toys on a cake). And although it wasn't my most creative cake, he was perfectly happy. It was a fun day and evening spent celebrating our little Bug.
Side Note: When Carson turned 4, we told him it was time to stop sucking his thumb. In order for that to happen, we had to pack away his two beloved blankets (Greeny and Blue Goo...the main triggers for the thumb to go into the mouth). We had told him that maybe when he turned 5 he could get them back. However, when his fifth birthday came around I wasn't confident enough that his blankets wouldn't trigger his thumb sucking again. So we told him maybe for his sixth birthday. Also, when he tearfully packed away those blankets 2 years ago, his sweet, sweet sister Aubrey decided to pack her two favorites away too, to make it a little easier for Carson. So for one of his presents, we wrapped up the blankets to give back to them. When he looked in the bag, he eyes instantly filled with tears. He was about to full-up lose it with everybody watching him, so we took the bag away and distracted him with other presents until after everyone left. Then he got them out again, and again got emotional (it was so sweet)! Both he and Aubrey are loving having their favorite blankets back again!!! (Charlotte, enjoy yours for one more year.....)
