It snowed so early in November this year! Brian's parents decided not to make the drive down for Thanksgiving. Kacee had been trying to get everyone to rent RV's and meet up at the Grand Canyon for Thanksgiving. As we one by one bailed on that idea, Kacee and family decided to just come to Boise instead! Her girls really wanted to surprise my kids. So we told them that there was going to be a surprise at Grandma's on Friday evening. They were filled with excited anticipation! Aubrey kept begging us to tell her! But we showed up at Grandma's and out jumped the Carlsons! It was pretty exciting. We still had snow, but it was supposed to rain that night and melt it all. So the Texans talked all the kids into heading out and playing in the sopping wet and cold snow for a LONG time! Then of course, they had to warm up in the hottub! :)
We had such a fun week! A bonus cousin week!! We went in search of snow to sled in one day and finally found some up past Crouch. Just enough for a super fun day of sledding and snowman building.
The kids begged nightly for sleepovers. They came up with all sorts of antics to try and convince us....making cute Charlotte ask, dances and meditations all to try and persuade us (which we gave into often).
We also tested out the new snow park in Eagle. The tube hill was really fun! The older kids were having fun snowboarding on the hills and jumps.....that is until Colbie fell and broke her wrist. :(
We went ice skating! We had actually never taken our kids to Idaho Ice World before. But everyone had a ton of fun! Apparently you have to get there super early to get one of the kid-skater things, so Brian and I got our workout skating Char around. But both Aubrey and Carson were determined to do it by themselves, and they did really well!
And we had a super nice Thanksgiving day. The little kids were all at our house that morning, so we watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (which they all thought was super cool), then headed over to Grandma's for an awesome dinner.
The day after Thanksgiving, we made gingerbread houses! (We figured since we'd already all decorated for Christmas due to having company in town, we might as well get the Christmas season going!)
It was such a fun, family week and as usual everyone bawled when the Carlson's left. Is it summer yet?!
