December Rituals...

December is one of the busiest, most fun times of the year!  I was (again) reminded of why I am SO glad and thankful that I am not working this year.  It was one of the most enjoyable Decembers I can remember!  And I think we hit all the usual traditions...

Blizzard came back!  The kids were VERY anxiously awaiting his return.  And as usual, they loved searching for him every morning and finding the fun and sometimes crazy things he's up to.  We definitely keep it simple, but I have to say, it's one of the things the kids love most about December!

We/Brian put up Christmas lights this year!  Last Christmas was our first year in our new house, and we didn't want to spend the money to get new lights.  I didn't really want to spend the money this year either, but it became clear that we were about to be the only house in our section of the subdivision without lights, so we/Brian caved.  While I was on a girls' retreat at the Seeger's cabin one weekend, he went out and got the lights and put them up!  Surprise!

Since we had already done gingerbread houses with the cousins, we opted to frost and decorate trees instead.  Super fun and easy.  In our advent calendar for the last couple years, I put a slip of paper in some days (along with the candy of course) that has an activity for us to do that day.  It really is a good way to try and make sure we do all the favorite things before December is over!  And although I apparently took no pictures of most of it, it was definitely a fun month!  A highlight that I took NO pictures of this year was our treat delivery!  We kept it simple again and made the delicious and addictive Sticky Chex Mix to deliver to our friends and neighbors.  The kids have so much fun taking those treats around to everyone.

That last picture cracks me up!  As Brian and I got our wrapping done and presents under the tree, we were left with quite a few empty Amazon boxes!  The kids discovered them one day in the garage and spent a good hour or two building "houses" and playing in the garage!

You can't really see Blizzard in this next picture, but you can see his handiwork....."decorated" the house and Christmas tree with the kids' underwear!!

This next picture has nothing to do with December, other than the more hair Charlotte grows, the awesomer her bed-head becomes!!!

Charlotte posing with her Frozen press-on nails from Beth!

Sorry Aubrey, but his picture is too hilarious not to include...
