Make Room!

After learning that we would soon be welcoming a wonderful new baby into our family, we looked around at our small, 3 bedroom house and wondered, NOW WHAT!? Although Brian has wanted to move Aubrey and Carson into the same room for some time now, I've been a little resistant. They are both such great sleepers, do we really want to rock the boat?? However, it became clear that this was going to happen, it was just a matter of when. We decided the sooner the better. We want to give them plenty of time to adjust to the change before new baby comes along. Also, we wanted to give Carson a chance to forget about his old bed before we have to change it back into a crib and new baby takes it over!
So, mid-August we did it. We got bunk beds and began the moving party!

The kids were both super excited (thankfully)! Aubrey was a little sad about giving up her big bed and also a little worried about Carson's antics keeping her awake. Carson was pretty much just excited.
After almost a month with the bunk beds, I can report that things are going fairly smoothly. The first week or two were a little rough. I don't think either child went to sleep before 10:30. Carson started up his old tricks of coming out of the room time and time again needing; a drink, to go potty, to tell us something, to see what we're doing, to tattle on Aubrey, etc, etc. He even got Aubrey in on some of the fun. (Turns out she was right to be concerned about his antics!!) However, it has gotten better, he/they usually only come out 2-3 times a night now. We're hoping now that we're back to school and work and into more of a routine, this will continue to improve. We also have to be very careful that we don't let them sleep late for naps........those nights can be scary!
They still say they love sharing a room, and it is hilarious to listen in one some of their conversations and games after the lights have gone off. The third bedroom is now officially being called, "the baby's room!"
