My 40th Birthday!



My birthday is squeezed in the 3 weeks between Carson and Aubrey's birthdays, therefore, it doesn't get a lot of attention.  Which is fine, I'm actually not one of those adults that thinks their birthday should be a month-long celebration every year.  However, 40 is kind of a big deal.  I had planned myself a trip to sunny Mexico with Missy and Kallee for the following week, but got to do a little surprise birthday celebration here as well!

I woke up on the Friday before my birthday to the kids singing Happy Birthday and bringing me homemade cards and hugs.  After I woke up, they gave me clues saying that I would be getting 40 surprises today!  I was to get up and get ready for the day.  I was informed I would not be volunteering in Aubrey's class that day, but instead having a day all about me!  Beth picked me up about 10:00 and we headed to brunch where several friends were waiting! Oh, and by the way, it was SNOWING!  Boo!

But we had a lovely brunch, such a fun surprise to see everyone!  Beth and I then headed to the spa for massages!  Oh man, SOOOOO nice!!  Then, instead of going to pick up Charlotte, we headed to the mall to do a little kid-free birthday shopping and lunch out.  (All of these activities had little cards that Aubrey had made counting off the surprises.)  After shopping, we headed home to relax and have a birthday mule!  Beth then informed me we were heading to dinner to meet Brian.  We were running a little behind schedule, but I knew Brian would understand.  However, when we showed up to dinner 45 minutes late there was my whole family....my kids, mom and Randy, Chris, Donna, Dallen, Callie, Masen, and Quinlan!  Sorry to make you guys wait!!  But we had an awesome dinner.  Then for surprise number 39?  40? (we kinda lost track) Beth, Brian, and I met Chris after his basketball game and we all headed downtown to meet friends for drinks!  Kids would be sleeping over at Grandma's!  WOW!  What a fun day!  We were exhausted!!  Poor Beth had a cold and powered through like a champ.  And what a good friend to plan and execute such fun birthday surprises!  Everyone helped out and made it a really perfect day.  I was feeling very loved.  And I still get to go to Mexico!!
