The Saturday after the birthday, we had the ultimate princess party! Charlotte and Isla decided to have a combined party again this year. :) And again, it was soooo nice to share party duties with another mom!
When the guests arrived, we had crowns for them to make and decorate. After we got everything set up, all the kids sat down for a little story about Princess Charlotte and Princess Isla. (I'll just say now that the story and all ideas associated with it came from my super creative and overachiever-party-mom sister Kacee.) In the story, an evil sorcerer had cast a spell on the Evans Castle, and all the princesses and princes needed to go on different quests (play games) to rid the castle of all evilness. It's amazing how well those kids sat and listened, quite mesmerized, to the story, waiting to find out what they got to do next! They hopped around the house on stones, trying to get past the moat (like a cake walk). They hunted for dragon eggs, which were hiding all of Princess Charlotte and Princess Isla's stolen jewels. They played Pin-the-Kiss-on-the-Frog to see if the frog in the castle was actually a prince. Then they passed the poison apple around the circle until all the poison wore off. They were always rewarded with jewels and prizes from the royal treasure chest, and they were finally rewarded with a feast and cupcakes!
They all had a blast! (Even Aubrey and Carson kept saying, "This is so fun!") And the royal feast of heart-shaped sandwiches, fruit wands, and pink punch was perfect for the little princes and princesses. Jenn made some darling princess cupcakes that were a hit of course. And then for some present opening!
A great time was had by all. Charlotte was thrilled with her presents, and all my kids talked about the party for days! Happy Birthday, Charlotte and Isla!
