We have been wanting to sell our little 3 bedroom house since even before Carson was born. We listed it while I was pregnant with Carson, but after about 5 months on the market, we gave up. The market then crashed and we've been stuck owing more than we could sell it for. So, we made the best of it. Carson and Aubrey bunked up, we gave up our pretty living room for a play room, and used every nook and cranny we had (literally).
Over the last couple months the housing market in Boise/Meridian has started to come back up. In February we emailed our realtor to give us an idea of what we could possibly sell our house for. We decided we were very close to the breaking even point, and so decided to give it a try. We figured it would probably take several months, so better to list it now so we could maybe move this summer.
We listed the house on March 15. The first day it was on the market we had 13 showings scheduled, and by the end of the day had 6 offers. What!?!? By the next day, we had countered all 6 and accepted the highest offer. It was 7K over our asking price! What?!?! In less than one month we listed, sold, moved out, and closed on our little 3 bedroom house! So crazy.
And oh by the way, hadn't looked at one single house for us to buy! We assumed we'd have plenty of time. Oops. So, we are currently living at my mom's and have completely taken over their upstairs 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. All our stuff is being stored in their back garage. We are pretty much homeless. But so appreciative that they're letting us stay here. Our kids are absolutely loving it!
We ended up deciding to build a house. They starting digging our hole about a week after we moved out.....more to come on that later.....
The last night we slept at our house was Saturday, April 6. We'd been moving little by little, but moved all the big stuff out on Sunday, April 7. Then we had some time to clean and get all the last of the details taken care of before we closed on Friday, April 12. A couple days before that we took the kids over to say our last goodbyes. It was actually quite emotional for me (and Aubrey). We bawled. Brian and I lived in that house for almost 10 years. We started our family there. We brought all 3 of our babies home to that house. They all learned to crawl, walk, and talk in that house. We have so many memories there. We will never forget it. Occasionally one of the kids will just say, "I miss our old house."
