The kids started reading the book, The Night Before St. Patrick's Day, a couple weeks before the "holiday."
Can I just insert a note about the craziness of holidays?! You know I love holidays and celebrating all that goes along with holidays and kids......however, is it not getting a little ridiculous?! I recently read a blog post (can't remember the name) about how all of these little "holidays" are just demanding more and more from parents (moms) and that we need to stop the madness!! And while I whole heartily agree with that, it's so hard to squash your child's enthusiasm and deny them these fun little days! So, I went along with the craziness.....
Aubrey built a leprechaun trap to try and entice a little fellow into her grasp and of course get his gold. (The sign on the trap reads something like, "shiny treasure inside.") They all had high hopes when they went to bed that night. However, when they woke up their room had been messed up, the trap tipped over, and only a note from the sly leprechaun He was, however, kind enough to leave one gold coin for each child. They then noticed that the bathroom had been visited by the leprechaun(s), as well as the milk in our fridge! I have to admit it was quite hilarious to watch them run through the house discovering all the little pranks. At one point Aubrey exclaimed, "This is the best St. Patrick's Day ever!!" Guess we've started a new tradition.....
