Trip to the Cabin

We just returned from another great summer trip up north to Sandpoint and the cabin! I think I may have hit the limit on number of pictures allowed in a post....but I just couldn't weed any out! As I've mentioned before, feel free to skim..... :)

We had such a great time just relaxing and playing! The weather wasn't great again this year....but we were still able to be outside most days and even did a little "swimming" in the lake.

Charlotte had a hard time sleeping real well in the colder temperatures!

Grandma Lyn and Grandpa Tom were able to be off work all week, so we got to do lots of playing with them!

We also got to go see Grandma Jane...

The kids loved being down by the water. They were pretty careful, but I was just really hoping Brian would be around if one of them went in.....that water is COLD!

We always take SO many pictures during the week we're there. All the light and water just seem to provide some great shots! It's quite a backdrop....

This picture cracks me up.....we have so many pictures with similar problems.....Carson is usually grumpy about having his picture taken, and Aubrey can never seem to keep her eyes open!

Aubrey loves to do "projects." She kept Grandma Lyn busy all week!

Grandma Jane even came out to the cabin for dinner one night.

First taste of popsicle....yum!

LOTS of s'mores!

The bathing and sleeping arrangements at the cabin aren't quite what we're used to....but we manage!

Aubrey and Carson love using their "trip beds," however, they usually don't get a whole lot of sleep!

Getting ready to go out exploring and on a "troll hunt!" Seriously, could you just eat that little Charlotte in her bear suit!?

Gotta love the walking sticks!

So to explain the "troll hunt." Apparently when Brian was a kid the people who own the cabin next to theirs had a "troll walk" set up complete with troll houses and signs. It's not really around anymore, but last year we found one sign that was still up; so now the kids beg to go on troll hunts to see if we can spot one. They have a blast.....but, I'm pretty sure it gives them nightmares too!

They were terrified to even stand by the sign!

Then they found one of the troll's homes! Brian and Charlotte had to go make sure it was safe first.....

While out exploring we found these GIANT slugs. They were so disgusting!! It's been so wet up there this year, that these slugs are all over......yuck!

The Saturday before we left, the cabin hosted a family reunion for Grandma Lyn's side of the family. Her sister and brother and their kids came into town with lots of grandkids to play! As usual, Carson was one of the only boys among a whole crew of girls!

While we were there Brian did a few projects to help fix up the cabin. One of those was tearing down the old, rotten fence. That created a HUGE wood pile. So Brian made it his mission to burn as much of the wood while we were there as possible.....so there was constantly a fire going.

And the last day we were there it was finally warm enough to brave the city beach!

And the annual family photo on the deck of the cabin....

Until next summer.....
