It took us about 10 hours in the car each way. Thank goodness for portable DVD players and naps is all I can say!
The trip started on a bit of a sad note. Brian's Grandpa Frank passed away the week before we were set to arrive. We went up a day early so we could attend his memorial service. It was a wonderful service and a great way to honor Grandpa Frank. He was such a big part of Brian's life and he'll be missed by many.
We spent the first couple days we were there in town at Grandpa Tom's and Grandma Lyn's house. Here we are at the park one day.

Then we moved out to the cabin. What a place! We absolutely love it there. It's hard to describe what this place means to everyone, especially Brian. Although it's only 15 minutes from town, it feels like you're miles and miles away from everything. It's so secluded and relaxing.....a wonderful escape.

Hanging out by the lake.......

Yes, that's me in the water. And yes, it was FREEZING! We remembered while we were there why we usually wait and go at the end of July......

Lounging on the dock.....

Aubrey's a mermaid if you can't tell.....

Looking for boats.....

Looking for Brooklyn??

The kids were so excited to take the little row boat out on the lake.

Lots of gathering "treasures," throwing rocks, and feeding the ducks.....

Then we spent a day at the city beach. The water was cold there too, but the sand was perfect for sand castles. And, most importantly for Aubrey, they have an ice cream stand!
My little momma's boy....

And finally, the 4th of July!!

What would a parade be without a tractor?? (coming from a small town girl...) I love the pictures.
Great pictures!! Looks so beautiful up there!! I was wondering why Aubrey wasn't given a garbage bag for her mermaid tail cause I'm pretty sure you've crafted a mermaid costume out of one before. . .
