Our Little Superstar

Aubrey was in two Christmas performances last week. The first was the Christmas program for her preschool. She was very excited to sing all the songs she'd been practicing. I learned from the first time she sang with her preschool at a church service, that she did NOT want me to help her practice the songs. She would get so mad if I tried to correct some of her lyrics. So this time I just let her sing the words "her way." She did a great job! She got up there and sang her little heart out......hand motions and all! About halfway through the performance, Pastor Tom got up and gave a quick message to the kids about the real meaning of Christmas. It was very sweet. However, after having to sit and listen for a little while, Aubrey sort of lost her steam. The last couple songs were a bit of a struggle.......she busted out some yawning, inner-nose "scratching," etc. But all in all, it was darling. We were very proud of her!

After the performance..........

Posing with her brother and her flowers from Patti and Ted........

The second performance was her ballet recital. She started taking lessons a little less than two months ago, so the first performance came quick! And it was quite the experience! She takes lessons from a large dance studio with dancers from 3 to adult, so the performance was a bit overwhelming. Dress rehearsal was the morning of the recital. We had to have her at the Brandt Center (30 minutes from our house) in "costume, hair and make-up" by 8:00 AM. Needless to say, that was not fun. She did well though, and we went back for the recital at 10:30. I was a little worried that she would back out at the last second.....so I was very relieved to see her walk out on stage (and might I say a very large stage in a very large, packed auditorium). The actual dance routine was quite hilarious.....I don't know if she did more than one or two of the choreographed moves, but she sure looked darling! And the best part was that she was so excited afterwards. I could tell she was very proud of herself. It was a great confidence booster. Love you Monkey!

Applying the "stage make-up." I have to say it was kinda weird to see all these little girls in so much make-up! Some moms really went overboard. We tried to be a little more subtle....but Aubrey was excited to get to wear some......

The performance started with some grabbing.....

and yawning.........
(Hey that's what you get for an 8:00 AM dress rehearsal!)

When we got home, she was ready for round #2..........
