Is that the Griswolds?

So several weeks ago while we were watching a Vandal game with some friends, Steph and I were asked if we wanted to hike up into the woods and cut down our own Christmas tree. "Sure, sounds like fun!" The next morning Steph and I looked at each other and said "Oh no, what have we agreed to? Are we really going to load up our 3 year-old and 1 year-old for a trip into the cold, snow to hike up a mountain and cut down a tree??"

During the week before the tree hunt, we waffled back and forth on whether we should bail out or just brave it and go. It was so bad that the day before the big hunt, we actually set up our fake tree.
As you can see from the pictures, we decided to go and the kids were pretty skeptical at first.

And after having to wait around for the Braziers, Carson just went crazy.

However, once we got there, and the kids saw the snow, they got pretty excited and cheered up.

After making it up the ridiculously steep hill/mountain to where the trees were, we decided, since the Evans family brought no saw (Griswold), that we would let our friends' 8 year old do all the work for us. Thanks Tyler for finding our tree, cutting it down, and hauling it down the mountain.
The kids had a great time playing in the snow and "being at one with nature."

THE TREE!!

The whole gang with our trees......(So ours is a tad bit "Charlie Brown" in comparison!)

Good family fun!

Next year's trip is already being planned........

I'd been meaning to ask about the tree hunting trip! Glad you ended up having fun, although I'm sure there is a lot more to the story than made it onto the blog. And cute pictures.
